Geophages Altifrons from the Rio Tocantins, often reaching 7–10+ inches, are stunning, peaceful eartheaters known for a blue-sheened, high-forehead appearance. They require large aquariums (60+ gallons), fine sand substrate for sifting, and, as a social species, thrive in groups. Often, what is sold as G. Altifrons from this region may actually be G. neambi.
